Sorry if this is old news... I just read this article on a new book being released on the Battle of Stalingrad that makes use of thousands of Soviet veterans' interviews that have only recently been declassified.

As of right now, I think it's only available in German... I can't wait to for it to be available in English!

Unfortunately Soviet records from the war are not always the most accurate because of the large scale censorship and propoganda involved , the latest revelations regarding the Kursk Battle and the great Tank Battle of Prochorovka that never was being a good example !!

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
