Done all sorts over the years, toolmaker originally, the rest in no particular order, Dispatch rider, Gardener, Bin man, grave digger, building worker, shop worker, bar worker on a nudist beach, filming wedding video's, part time extra, student (not sure that counts), draft proofing fitter, boat operator, dish washer, contract cleaner, car mechanic, probably others that I can't think of at this time and these days I am an Archaeologist, for 20 yrs now. And some others best not mentioned on a public forum.

Ah the joys of dispatch riding!... i worked for Pony Express in Liverpool for a while in the mid 80s, i got offered a job delivering a bunch of keys to Aberdeen which the rest of the riders turned down due to it being January. I just jumped on the bike parked it at Liverpool airport and got on a flight to Aberdeen, still made about £100 on the deal too!...

Ah the joys of dispatch riding!... i worked for Pony Express in Liverpool for a while in the mid 80s, i got offered a job delivering a bunch of keys to Aberdeen which the rest of the riders turned down due to it being January. I just jumped on the bike parked at Liverpool airport and got on a flight to Aberdeen, still made about £100 on the deal too!...

I'm not sure joys come into it mate, jeez when I stopped I just parked the bike outside the house and left it there for over a year. I worked for two Cardiff based companies, Wings and then Cycle Dispatch. Got a £10 tip on my first job, almost got killed god knows how many times, most of those I worked with either died or got mashed up quite badly, yeah I remember the joys of it only too well.

Makes me shudder just thinking about it. I got blown off the road on a bend once straight into someones drive and another time a similar incident to yours, I was doing about 90 heading toward the Newport tunnels on the M4 when some arse in a sportscar pulled onto the motorway from the on ramp and put his foot down whilst crossing into the fast lane, I had to jump on the brakes as I was heading toward his backend and had nowhere else to go as the tunnel mouth was looming and I was tight against the central barrier. I could see his car getting closer as I am jumping on the brakes and as my speed reduced enough and his speed increased enough that I missed him by mm's. I had to pull over and have a smoke, phew, it really shook me up, so much so that after the drop off in the dark at a stately home I rode across the lawn in the dark, thankfully no complaints. It did take the fun out of biking!
