Johannes-Matthias Hönscheid (14.07.1922 - 02.03.2001) was the only 'Kriegsberichterstatter' (war reporter/correspondent) who was also a 'Ritterkreuzträger.'
As if that wasnt extraordinary, check out his other decorations for bravery also.
Hönscheid became an editor after the war and lived in München.

Any other one-of-a-kind soldiers out there in the same vein?
Could be Yeager (first pilot to officially travel faster than sound), Rudel (only one with RK with golden oakleaves, swords and rubies), Hartmann (most successful fighter ace in the history of aerial warfare) etc.
This thread doesnt discriminate - all one-of-a-kind soldiers welcome (yeah, yeah, thats an oxymoron, but you get the drift; no matter what service, country or creed).
