This is a really great thread!

Both my paternal and maternal grandfathers served in the US Navy during WW2. I remember when I was younger and seeing a picture of each at their houses. I'm trying to track them down.

Earlier this month I showed one of my uncles my fledgling WW2 collection and he emailed me a picture of my great-great-grandfather, Abraham Goldberg who served in the army of the Russian Empire. One of my uncle's friends has an interest in Russian military history and determined the picture was taken between 1895-1907 based on the uniform. The medal he is wearing is for marksmanship. Watches were given as prizes but were not allowed to be worn with the uniform. Instead, the watch chain, which is proudly displayed in the picture, was worn in its place.

Abraham and his wife emigrated to the United States sometime in the early 1900s and lived in NYC.
