The foul taste grew worse for some in the community on Friday after more learned of the Nazi memorabilia being sold in the St. Jacob’s antique shop.
A letter signed by Adolf Hitler, items bearing swastikas and a ring belonging to an S.S. officer, were among the goods for sale from one vendor at Market Road Antiques.
Some were so horrified by these Swastikas for sale; a petition was launched to have the items pulled.
The petition argued that the sale of these items trivializes historical trauma.
On the other side, there have been plenty of people commenting on social media saying this is all part of history and they have no problem with the sale of the items.
However by early afternoon, the boycott was no longer necessary.
All the Nazi items in three different displays were pulled down by head office.
The owners of Market Road Antiques are apologizing profusely to anyone who was offended by the matter.
Waterloo Regional Police launched and wrapped up an investigation after the news broke on CTV on Thursday.
Police say there is nothing illegal about the sales since they were being sold as historical artifacts and not to promote hate.
Meanwhile, the petition has been taken down.

While there may not be anything illegal about it, the idea of Nazi memorabilia being sold at a St. Jacobs antique store is leaving a foul taste in some mouths.
A letter signed by Adolf Hitler, items bearing swastikas and a ring belonging to an S.S. officer are among the goods for sale from one vendor at Market Road Antiques.
Rabbi Moshe Goldman, a Waterloo-based rabbi, says he received a complaint about the display.

“It boggles my mind and it sickens me that somebody wants to use this to make a buck,” he said in an interview.
“You should not be making your living off of evil.”
Under the Criminal Code of Canada, it is illegal to advocate genocide, or publicly promote or incite hatred against a group.
It is unclear if that would apply to selling items like those available in St. Jacobs.
Waterloo Regional Police say they consider swastikas to be “hate-based” symbols, but can’t comment on this specific case unless they receive a formal complaint.
Reached by phone, the current owner of the items said military paraphernalia is one of the few areas in which antique dealers can still make money.
“I don’t see the big fuss about this,” Mike McMillin said.
“I think we’ve persecuted the Germans long enough.”
McMillin isn’t the only vendor selling Nazi items at Market Road Antiques.
A medal decorated with a swastika, cufflinks and an old copy of Mein Kampf were among the pieces spotted Thursday by a CTV News camera.
The manager of the shop says the decision to allow the items was a difficult one – and an “amazing” number of people show interest in items of that type.
“This is an antiques store. This is part of history – that’s why we choose to have it in the store,” Bev Nielson said.
“It’s a sensitive topic – we totally get that – but it is history. They teach it in the schools.”
People browsing the market had a mixed reaction to the items, with most saying they wouldn’t want to buy the items themselves, but could understand why others might be interested.
“I understand the idea of wanting to collect something that’s part of history, even if it’s a dark part of history,” said Paul Ribeiro.
“They tried to destroy our way of life, and we beat them. It’s just history – look at it as just that,” added Howie Clark.
Goldman says he doesn’t want to see the items sold, and would rather see them donated to a museum than destroyed.

This seems to be a recent phenomenon - where people express disgust at what some people choose to collect. Not too many years ago Nazi items didn't even raise an eyebrow. But these days everyone seems to want to prove a point over their political leanings. Strange how people who lived through the war - or have parents who live through the war, don't really give a toss one way or the other.

My grandfather was a prisoner of war in Belgium, and he had no hate what so ever.

Also wanted to mention that most of the items at the market were repros or right out fakes.

These do gooders have no idea what evil really is..and how they themselves are partaking in it,.. covering over what they do in the secrecy of darkness. Its a shift away from the wrong they themselves are doing. These people know who they are and know exactly what they are doing that is evil or illegal. One part of many..is the fact..the evil they are committing against their families, friends, co workers, law enforcement and government.

So if they think they are being the model citizen by reporting what the police in the article deemed as " historical artifacts "..then its just another lame and weak minded case of hypocrisy. These people dont realize it..that they are trying to kick start socialism ..and when there is nothng left to take away..then these do gooders themselves will be next in line.
Whats next??........Burning Books with swastikas in it? Burning books has already been done..and if this crap keeps up by these lame lonely breed of jelly minded babies....and those like minded who listen to them who know better..allow it..history repeats itself.
