    Major Richard Winters, the commanding officer of Easy Company, 506 PIR has passed away. He was immortalized in the book and series "Band Of Brothers." For further inform `Band of Brothers' inspiration Winters dies at 92 - Welcome to Charter.net
    I was fortunate to know someone who knew Major Winters. A number of years ago, he procured for me an autographed photograph personalized to me with Winter's famous saying "hang tough."

    so sad to hear this, he was such a remarkable man and so modest about his wartime experiences.

    Several year ago at the SOS, I had my copy of "Band of Brothers" autographed by four members of Easy Company. They opened the book to the page they usually signed and found Major Winter's autograph. They deferred and chose another page to sign. A sign of respect that his men still had for him.

    Bob i got Dick Winters address from a contacxt and my son who was 14 wrote to him , Dick sent back a large signed photo and letter of the famous shot of him in Holland , the photo still hangs in pride of place in my son's bedroom and he's 25 now !! A real hero and a true gent , RIP .
