I do like the skull as well! It is on the list ( for many years, in fact!)
I have got a couple of numbered German buttons, but they must be HJ, because of the high numbers...!?

Very nice are they all ground dug or just the SS and the 4 kompanie epaulette button ?

Hi Mark, they are all ground dug. As long as it has reasonably dry soil conditions, aluminium survives the years well.

Kris, Do you collect Canada buttons as well? I just ran across a couple that I had picked up with some other lots that I was interested in and thought I should ask. They are one 23mm heavy and solid feeling brass Canada Militia beaver button made by Slightly tougher to find maker on Catherine Street in Montreal. It has Superb detailing on it-especially so on the beaver, that so many you see look like little monsters, they are so poor. The other is a smaller 18mm silvered one made by Tait and Company in London, but it, sadly, has no loop on the reverse. They both sport the King's Crown, so they were used approximately 1901 to 1924. Lastly in the little bunch, there is a 23mm Irish Constabulary black horn button with a brass loop and no makers mark. Can you use this lot? Anything of interest in it?
