    Hi guys,

My forum participation might be somewhat stifled in the next couple of weeks as I make the drive across I-80 from Pennsylvania to Utah. I am in Chicago tonight.

I took the time earlier to look up some antique malls in Iowa and Illinois. There are apparently a ton of them in Des Moines. I might find something laying around.

Do you guys mostly use online dealers, or do you go out and pick stuff out of antique malls yourself? Are there places like antique malls in Europe?

    Hi Mo,

Firstly, I wish you a safe and pleasant trip...and happy hunting!

Regarding the malls you speak of, yes, we do have these in Europe. I am aware of a few places in the UK that I have visited, as well as the usual quaint shops that are to be found on many a village street throughout the land. The large fairs and flea markets are obviously good places to go digging too. Best of luck with your journey.

    Regards,

    Carl

Hi, Plenty of malls in the uk from largish shops to barn complexes where dealers can rent anything from a small display case to a shop sized space to sell their wares.

I buy from internet dealers, sites such as this and WAF estand, havn't bought from a shop for ages but attend some local auctions and car boot fairs and have picked up a few items from these.

Have a great trip and if you pick up anything please post photo's

    best wishes

Mo: Have a great trip and happy hunting. Let us know if you pick up anything along the way. I mostly use online dealers as there's not much around here.

Only just noticed that you live in Pennsylvania, i've got a lot of family there in a little town called Clearfield.
As for buying, most of my stuff comes from dealers when i visit Germany and Poland (got to be carefull in Poland), now and again i'll visit the odd flea market. Safe trip by the way!..

Clearfield, PA isn't really all that far for me. Maybe 3 hours. Do you ever visit there?

I tend to seek out traders who don't really have much idea about what they are selling - yes they DO still exist! They are the one's who normally sell house clearance and just have the odd bit of militaria. There are plenty of bargains to be had off them. As for your trip - have a good one. And don't buy anything that anyone on this website wouldn't buy.

Hey Mo,, becareful driving with the changing weather,,, I have noticed myself in those sleepy little mining towns in Pa sometimes you see out of the woodwork stuff in those tiny shops. Jim Thorpe Pa. has some good ones. Regards Larry
