Fully armed Nazi bomber planes 'buried below East Berlin airport' - The Scotsman

I know this is an old article and if it's been posted before mods please delete.
I know the info about the unexploded ordnance is true because it has held up work modernising and extending the airport, it was due to open as Brandenburg international early last year.
Has anyone heard anything about the supposedly buried aircraft?, i've scoured the net and can find nothing.

When I lived in Germany, I worked in Mannheim/Sandhofen for the US Army in Coleman Barracks, which used to be a Luftwaffe Fliegerhorst...The going rumor was that there were underground hangars as well...And although the rumor was totally untrue, the persistence of such tales is remarkable...When I was asked by a soldier if the story was true, I jokingly said "Yes, and there are still radioactive Nazis down there, that's why it's all closed off"...the young soldier looked at his friend and said "See, I told you so!"...
    cheers, Glenn

It really sounds too good to be true - very similar to those Spitfires buried in Burma. I also heard some rumours about the Soviets flooding the cellars below Templehof, trapping and drowning a large number of defenders, and they haven't been explored to this day.

Berlin airport is still a massive, incomplete construction site costing billions: • Construction costs for airports | Statistic. I doubt they'll check below the runways but we can live in hope

The same thing was said of Templehof when I was stationed in Berlin in the 1950's. All sorts of ready-to-fly aircraft waiting to be discovered. The question I had was if the teller of the tale "knows" they are there, what's to be discovered? The closest I ever came to anything like that being real was a vehicle graveyard/storage field in Grafenwöhr. They were WWII US Army jeeps, halftracks, and armored cars that were just there. The locals had already parted out a lot of the jeeps and dragged off others. We salvaged a halftrack and used it as a utility vehicle in the field during the six weeks we were there. Here is a photo of it. Dwight
