    Default Stolen Family Medals

Posted on the Orders and Medals Society of America's forums today and thought everyone should know if you come across them:

I would like to bring to your attention the theft of my family medals from my home in Tilbrook, Cambridgeshire, on the night of 16/17 April 2010 (Friday/Saturday). The medals were all mounted in one frame (probably now broken up) and consist of the following:

    My Grandfather’s medals
    -- 1914-15 Star 62 1.A.M. G. McClenaghan RFC
-- War Medal 62 Sgt G McClenaghan RAF
-- Victory Medal 62 Sgt G McClenaghan RAF
    -- RAF LSGC 62 F/Sgt G McClenaghan RAF
-- Defence Medal Unnamed (Ministry of Air Constabulary)

    My father’s medals
    -- 1939-45 Star
    -- Africa Star
    -- Defence Medal
    -- War Medal 1939-45
-- GSM 1918 clasps “Palestine” and “Malaya”
    -- LSGC – 2323101 WO2 G McClenaghan R.Sig

    My wife’s uncle’s medals
    -- War Medal 1939-45 10696875 Sgt E R Brown RASC
-- GSM 1918 (George VI) clasp “Malaya” Sgt E R Brown RASC
-- GSM 1918 (EIIR) clasp “Malaya” Insp. E R Brown Federation Malaya Police

Should any of these medals be offered to you I would be most grateful if you would contact Cambridgeshire Constabulary (Cambridgeshire Constabulary - Homepage) quoting crime reference number CF 0175910410.

thats terrible to hear, im sorry for your loss. i will keep an eye out but i highly doubt ill come across anything of yours over here.

im guessing that whoever did it must have known that you had those medals. think of the people you know who know you had the medals, and if you notice that one is avoiding you a lot then looks like youve got yourself a suspect. it would be one thing if it was just a collection, but stealing family heirlooms like that is downright disrespectful to you and the people in your family who served.

make sure you keep an eye on ebay too, ive heard of stolen things turning up on there quite often.
