nothing to do with militaria, but I am doing some research on a Welsh physician named William Lewis Roderick.
Who was know as a scrimshaw artist during the mid 19th century.
The reason is; I found a whale plate bearing his name:

There is lots of info about him out there on the internet, he must be pretty famous in the scrimshaw scene. one thing i read though is beware as his work is being faked.

Thanks, internet is were I started. But some times other coutry's give different (more ) information.
I am well aware about fakes, when you do militaria I guess that you get used to it.
The scrimshaw I got is indeed whale bone that was engraved and colored, only need to know if the signature is authentique.
