Question What do you think? Help With Old Painting of Castle's Ruin

    Hello gents,

I just picked up this painting in my hometown. My first painting if you're asking.
As you can see, the painting depict a ruin of castle, hill and boat. From the drawing and frame, i think it's from the dutch colonial era.

I asked my friend and he said probably this is a scenery from the rhine where there's a lot of ruins in there. When i checked on the internet, i think the castle it's kind of similar with the ehrenfels castle in hesse.

    (from wikipedia)

I guess the ruin on the right is mouse tower. After i check the history, both building was devastated in 1689 and the mouse tower was rebuild in 1855.
Drawing of both bulding in 1664

And i found on the internet, some drawing and painting depicting the mouse tower pre 1855.

So what do you think gents? Is my assumption is correct in here? Any comment will be really appreciated to find the origin and age of this painting.
Also is anyone can read the name of the painter? I can only read "D. Veerjir" or something like that.

    hello,
strange construction on the backside of the painting.
Probably ment to ressist great tropical, temperature and humidity fluctuations....
Is it on panel or canvas?
Always looking for Belgian Congo stuff!

    Interesting, it could be.
It's on the canvas, the canvas stretched on it and afterward installed on the panel.
