OK Gents.... yeah, I don't think the Chi-Nat idea is correct.
Now, I had a hunch about this, but it was painfully apparent when in hand that it was not worn as shown in the auction photos...
Here are a couple of pics showing it placed as per the folds and wear as it should have been. Still not sure what/where it derives from, but the canvas like fabric and wicker weaving in the headband almost make me think Japanese. But that's just a guess on my part.
However, I do feel a bit better about it since it's arrival!
As I thought. Personally I think it is a field made piece and probably won't find another but hopefully I'm wrong. The construction to me shows lack of skill that you would expect to see.
