Yes..., I couldn't resist because it looks so odd. But have no idea as to what it actually is, if not what they claim it may be. Very strange inside band liner.

I am thinking this might be a Korean war era Chinese hat. I think I recall seeing one associated with that a while back. may be pre koren war wich would be mao, long march kinda thing
What would you know about victory? I killed a she-wolf in her den, armed with only a knife. I escaped the Caughnawaga Indians who sought to burn me alive. And, I was the sole survivor of a shipwreck at the Battle of Havana. Thanks General P. Got a similar confirmation on another board that it is probably pre-Korean war period. Will see if there are more comments, but if that's the case, Lord knows how many iterations it went through after that.

Got a pretty good answer over on the Gunboards....

"It is a fairly typical Chi-nat army cap. They look very German to me. There's another Chinese war film Death and Glory in Chungde about a 1943 battle against the Japanese with the Chi-nats as heroes slugging it out with the IJA. You'll see plenty of the German style caps with the KMT/Guomindang star on them, and also Brodie Lend Lease helmets with the star. The Chi-nats had German advisors throughout the 1920s and into the 1930s. Also Soviet support in the 1920s too."
