I have been making a wooden shelve display case thing and I would like to know what type of material is the best to line it with. The case is made out of oak wood and oak wood ply with a walnut stain and lacquer. I hope this is the correct forum area to post this. (I'll be taking a pic of the finished product).

I don't think you need any lining over the wood, I have my relic lids on a wood shelf and their just fine.

Wood fibers turn paper yellow and I have a lot of WWI correspondence and books. Though I could just get plastic lining for the letters and books instead.

You could use some cloth or felt so you can just lay them on it or the plastic liner is a good idea also
