As Glenn said, my interest is particularly piqued by battles that have a civilian element to them such as the Siege of Leningrad and the Battle of Berlin. Also interested in The Battle of Britain from the perspective of the threat of invasion and how the British people prepared for it.

Anzio
One of my favorite battle fronts is at Anzio. Italy in general is very interesting. The attached map belonged to Lt. Westphal of the 715 I.D. (mot) 671 Art. Reg. You can see artillery and MG locations noted on the map along with numbered crossroads and the front line in pencil. An escape route to Rome was inked to a second map through the Alban Hills. NH

Bastogne.
Three people from my home town were there.
One was trapped there as a member of the 101st airborne.
My first employer was a tank driver for the 3rd army
and was part of the group sent to brake the siege and my
neighbor was a spotter and flew over the area several times
in his C4 Grasshopper.
