    Hi, Adrian.

    This Pike was about 7 lbs, and no, I'm a conservationist - I put them back alive
    to continue to grow and breed. A photograph is my trophy.

    Pike have a lot of bones and are difficult to filet anyway,
    but it's good to know I'd never starve.........!

    It's the same over here Steve, pike are put back alive to fight another day. I ask because we see TV programmes about survival techniques etc and although a different scenario, the pike caught are taken for food and I wondered if the species was on the menu in general. The meat is awful, I tried it once and it was like eating cotton wool and needles.
    Here's a photo taken this year of my daughter and her rainbow trout. We go fly fishing on occasion and although she hasn't mastered the casting technique I let her bring the fish in. This was the biggest trout I ever hooked and I gave the rod to her before I realised how big it was.
