Love these sort of pictures, lots of emotions going on here with the Germans & US sailors/soldiers 6th & 7 th picture down...I bet the Germans are thinking there is no way we can win with the sheer volume of men on this ship alone!!! thanks for posting Terry.

Nice pics. Where are these from ?

Most if not all, seem to have been taken 6 or 7 hours or so after
the initial landings - too many men loitering on deck.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Visitation to the Battleship Texas has been closed indefinitely due to leaks.

Check out 6 degree list, picture taken today:

Our Texas lawmakers need to get that dry dock plan approved before it sinks and has to be scrapped in place.

Sorry to bump this old thread. Walkwolf, I hope something is done, this ship is a marvelous exhibit. I have been lucky enough to have visited the Old Girl through the years. The thing is, there are no guides as such, you are pretty much allowed to wander all over her from top to bottom and take as much time there as you wish. The only areas out of bounds are the areas being actively restored and some restored areas such as the Officers mess etc. (behind perspex) It was only the skeeters that drove me off the last time, (2010) but the mosquito is the Texas National Bird!
Here are some photos I took back then.
Bless The Old Girl, and come on Texas State, pull your finger out. Git R Done!

    Best Regards,

    Andy

    PS
My pic 4 looks like it was taken close to where pic 5 was on the D-Day photos.
