1946-1950? Help Identify 82nd ABN picture...

Hello All,

Figured I'd give it a shot and post my grandpa's picture, the only artifact i have of his service in the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division.

Please look at the photo, I know he was INF and in the 82nd Ariborne.

Name: Vincent M. Earley
DOB: Dec. 12, 1930
DOD: Apr. 9, 2007



He was to young for WWII. He could have been in from 47-51 time frame....I figured maybe DEC 47 - EARLY 1951 if anything.

National Personnel Records Center cannot find his record, they think it was destroyed in there so called fire in 1973?....

I have from a friend,

2 VA FILE "NAMES, FILE #s and SERVICE NUMBERS....? Help with this please....

1.) Vincent J. Earley, VA file number 10-301-793 (service number 32737519) no other information listed

2.) Vincent M. Earley Jr., VA file number 15-801-944 (service number 15-801-944) no other information listed

Maybe one of you gentleman can help me by looking @ the SERVICE NUMBERS? I dont know the full deciphering of how there broken down....

Also, the OVAL on his IKE jacket, what units where in the 82nd ABN DIV post WWII - PRE KOREAN WAR?

Checking NARA, Vincent J. Earley, VA file number 10-301-793 (service number 32737519) shows up as having been born in 1920 and being drafted in 1943. This Vincent J. Early was from PA.

Nothing found on the other Vincent M. Early.

The picture was taken during the Korean war. The small rank insignia was only used for a few years in the 50s. I can't remember which years though.
