I think it's only fair
that I should let you know
the very day you wnet away
I got another beau.

He's short and rather stout
His hair is just a fringe
His eyes are weak and cleary
His teeth would make you cringe.

His uniform is wrinkles
And shiny in the pants
But when I see him coming
My heart begins to dance.

I love him with a passion
That you'd never understand
He's never made an advance
Or even held my hand.

And even if he's slowish
And his walk is rather crabbed
If he should pass me by
I would be very sad.

He never calls me up
To let me know he's one his way
But when he doesn't come
It's strictly a wasted day.

He always brings me presents
Which is why I love him so
But the gifts are not his doings
And it doesn't cost him dough.

This guy I adore
In uniform of blue
Is just the little mailman
Bringing letter dear, from you!
