Hi,
Would someone have an idea on who this General might be?
Thanks,

Hmmm, The title of Military Secretary was held by General Sir Colville Weymiss (1942-1946) or Lieutenant General Sir Fredrick Browning (1946-1948) during the time this letter was written but it doesnt look like either of their signatures on it Neil
Yes, I can see what you mean...but maybe this post was held by more than one individual?
I think I found the Gazette: http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issu.../4621/page.pdf
But not the name yet.
Whoever signed this seems to be a Brigadier (so not a General at all), as shown by the "Brig (R)" at the end of the signature. I would guess that it was signed on behalf of the Military Secretary to the Secretary of State for War (which was indeed either Weymiss or Browning in 1946) by a Brigadier on his staff.
