I picked up this leter as part of a larger collection of papers relating to soldiers killed in action or taken prisoner.

The text, as far as I can make out, reads:

Oct 25th 1940

Mj A I Cowie (?)

Letter from the mother of a POW

Does anyone know what became of Victor? I must confess it quite blew me away when I found this letter amongst the rest of the papers and read it for the first time. The feeling of relief from a mother about her son still comes across 74 years on and its one of the most personal items I have ever picked up. It is always good as a collector to be reminded that behind the uniforms, webbing and weapons we collect there are millions of personal stories.
