Liberated motorcycle

My friend Tom was in the US signal corps in WWII. I enjoy listening to his war tales. The other day he dug out some photos and told me how he found a motorcycle on the side of the road . He drove it all over the place and sold it to another GI when he was shipped home . Said he wishes he still had it .

That's a cool story and some great pictures.

If you don't mind, I would like to add a similar story.
I had a friend who was a air liaison pilot for Gen Patton. He "liberated" a
Messerschmitt Me-108. At the end of the war, he flew that plane all over
Germany and France. He tried for months to get the Army to allow him to
ship it back to the states but they would not let him.

Here is a pic of the Me-108 along with his dog Mac and Charlie who was
a young German Luftwaffe mechanic that they befriended.
The other picture is of my friend Owen and his L4 Grasshopper.

Greg very cool photos and story. My friend Tom has some great stories he said the motorcycles front wheel broke and he had to trade a pistol to get a new one. He also found a German jet and was trying to send one of the engines home but his Sgt told him he couldn't keep it.

I guess it depended on what rank you had. I read that a Mercedes staff car went back to the States in a crate marked "Refrigeration Equipment"!
