My family during WW2 (1942) Navy?

Hey guys I got this photo of my third cousin that was in the military during ww2. is he navy? i cannot tell.

looks like a peacoat.

Not Navy. Hat is an EM/NCO Army hat. The collared shirt and tie visible under the coat confirms it.

As for the coat, most likely a standard Army issue OD Wool Overcoat. The B&W photo gives it the appearance of the dark blue Navy Peacoat.

If you want to look up his enlistment info, you can search his name on NARA. Only Army records are available so you should be able to find him. Below is the link. Just type his name into the field below "Search AAD".
