Fabulous shot of US Army frogskin and Sten gun! What’s the story behind that one?
As Wilhelm says, the images of pre-War Dutch Army and Naval uniforms are a pleasure to see and quite a rarity.
Thanks for posting these Rene!
Cheers mate,
Bob

G'day Bob, this is a third uncle that served in Indonesia in the late 40's from what I know and was married to my old man's sister Ada (note the cap) I know very little of my Aunts Husbands!

Nice to see these older uniforms from Dutch troops.
My father was assigned to medical forces, in the later 1930's.
Here two photos with his medical (enameled metal)
collar-patch device. Note the two different forms.
The other is a photo when he married with my mom in 1939.
Great to see such personal photos Wilhelm, Thank you for contributing.

I see some photos are pre-war. The small one with the group is taken at Amersfoort.
I was wondered about the ADA upon the inner of the visor for the cap, but now I
know. I am wondered why he was allowed!

Yes Amersfoort my Uncle is top right. I've just rearranged them . I was long ago told by Ada that it was a sneaky thing he did, ie smart arse!!

Is it correct to say I see two photos that seem to be made in an eastern country?
So, you do have Dutch ancestors René? Many Australians will have!
-
Yes all of them, apart from my direct family, I have only one Cousin here from the old country. My folks are from Amsterdam. Mum from Noord, Dad from the Jordaan

Two of my Dad's brothers where kind of forced to act as drivers in the NSKK or go work in the factories in Germany! yes they went to the eastern front! (these pics where developed there) Many stories he did tell me when I did meet him! and also how he ended up working for the US Army!!!
