    Thank You for taking the time to read my question. Is it possible to find out the actions of the unit in this photo. Ive been trying with no luck. I also have other photos of the man whom it belonged to and was wondering if i could find out where his company was located? hopefully the picture helps. thanks again

    Judging by the ribbon bar, along with the Navy Commendation Medal
    and American Campaign ribbon, he was in the ETO/EAME.

    Pretty broad, I know, but after graduation from the NTS,
    they would most likely have been split up. He could
    have been sent anywhere in the Atlantic or
    Mediterranean theaters.

    I see no rating or trade patches on his arm, so it's tough
    to tell anything about his duties or where he served.

    Thank You for the nformation its more than i knew so thanks !!!i just thought it was unique due tot he war bond winners and the color of the couple is just out right amazing.. thanks again !

    It's possible that the photo is of the sailor and his mother.
    They are nice photos...............!

    [I do have a couple other photos of him i think he sent to his mother.. could be? i havent seen any photos with color like that one has..almost like its chalk or painted on..really nice. here is the other photos i have of him. one even says to:mom hehehe

    I think the process is called 'hand tinting' which was popular at the time.

    My uncle trained at Sampson NY as well. Basic training was followed by additional training for various assignments. In my uncle's case - he went to San Diego for amphibious training. NH

    can you read the guys last name? bob ? if so you can run an ancestry.com search. I had an old G I trunk with a shipping tag on it. ran the guys name, and city.......turned out to be a major in WWI ! so the trunk was really from wwI

    The picture that you describe with a chalky look to it is not colored photo. What you see is damage.
