    Great photos Paul.
I see they had the negative reversed when they printed the first photo.
One of my uncles was in North Africa (one of the rats) and he was actually
    from South Australia.
    Cheers Jules
i never noticed it was backwards.....the only way i can tell is his hat and watch, if your uncle was in the 2/48th battalion he might of known my grandfather but i guess not all south australians served in the one battalion

some great shots from new britain , this is a area i have seen or read very little about,
wow looking at these photos you can tell its stinking hot

Steve, the photos are not "crummy", they are great, thanks for posting.
Paul, I don't know what battalion my uncle was in, but when he came out of North Africa,
he was sent straight to New Guinea. You never know, they may have known each other.
    Cheers,
    Jules.

My attempt at photographing them is crummy. The photos are in frames
behind glass, and are difficult to shoot.........!
    Regards,

    Steve.

Thought I would dig this one out again. The photos are from a friend of mine . Marion was a nurse in WW11 she is now 101 and still one hell of a great lady. lets see if you can guess who the lady in the hat is.
The Lady in the hat is Queen Mary.

    Cheers, Ade.
