Default Three Wars, Thirty-Years Service (1938-1968)

    Hello everyone,

Thought that I'd share photos and documents from a scrapbook that I purchased several years ago. It belonged to Cecil P. Free who served in the U.S. Navy from 1938 until 1968. Interestingly, he served aboard the first Yorktown and I believe that he may have been on this ship for its sea trials. After a couple of years he went to photography school and was aboard various ships in the Pacific as ship photographer, including at least one that was attacked by Kamikazes. According to his service record, he also filmed scenes for news reels and training films. I'm proud to own this, just wish I knew more about Mr. Parks.....Hats off to him for his long service over the course of three wars. Thanks for looking.

That is a great collection of photo's of his service. The "Honor Man" is a single individual who was the best out of his Shipmates during his boot camp. The forth pic down is the
'Shellback ceremony for when he crossed the equator . That is when they get hazed and meet King Neptune!!!They do some crazy stuff to them.(YouTube it!! You'll see) I have to say that Chief in a dress is what the waves looked like when I was in. Never want to ride those waves LOL
    Fantastic photo's.
    Thanks for sharing.
