A slice of history with those Berchtesgaden shots.
Great pics - Thanks for sharing.........!
Outstanding historical score, love the photos with the GIs posing next to the stolen artwork! Those photos are better than anything I've ever seen in a book regarding the subject of looted art...Congratulations on such an excellent find, very impressive! My American grandfather was in the 101st, but was severely wounded parachuting into France on D-day, taking him out of the war...My father was in the 101st as well, in Vietnam 70-71...Thanks again!
Thanks, Glenn, and thank you for your family's service.
The photos of the artwork have been sent to Robert Edsel, author of "The Monuments Men" and Chairmen of the Monuments Men Foundation. The researchers at the foundation are going to identify the artwork in the photos. Looking forward to the information they will provide.
God only knows how many more priceless images like this lie in trunks and drawers of dusty attics all over the world. Most sadly end up in the trash. Thanks for preserving this history.
Would you be interested in allowing me to use the Croft photos on my Camp Croft Homepage (www.campcroft.org)? I would be interested in adding them to a page on my "Visitors Photos" section with appropriate credit (and any description or links you would like to include). --- RON
I'd be happy to have you use the photos. I'm sending you a PM.
