This is a photo found on the site that RichieC recommended "Photo Soyuz"
I punched in Russia 1940 and this was one of 157 photos that popped up.
It is indeed a great photo web site....I enjoyed it very much.

I have a question regarding a "Russian universal" holster--perhaps this is not the right place to ask it?
Does anyone have period photos of these holsters?
I try and get as many period photos of WWII Russian holsters as I can find.

In the 1930’s it was decided to make holsters that would accommodate both the older Nagant revolver and the newly adopted TT30 and TT33 automatic pistols. The body of the holster had to have the larger shape of the automatic and the cartridge pocket has to hold either a spare clip for the Tokarev pistol or 14 loose rounds to reload the cylinder of the revolver twice – the same as the number of cartridges kept in the divided pocket of the earlier holsters.
