Re: NKVD picture real?
No doubt in my mind it is an original photo.
What makes it a bit special is that the man is wearing his cap. I own hundreds of images dating from the 20s thru the 50s and I recall that in about 80% of the studio portraits, the person(s) being photographed is(are) NOT wearing any headgear.
The reverse reads, to the best of my ability:
