There was about 50 asian nationalities in the Soviet union- Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan is bigger one. But also small like Evenks, Yakuts, Buryats, Nenets etc

I think that the sniper is buryat it,s a nation in South Siberia, close to mongolian.

Very nice, the sniper looks like navy, many of the sailors serving on land I believe retained a number of navel distinctions. Who says a sailor can't shoot...

No, theres four....one is wrapped around the bottom of the morter. I still think there sleeping. Look at the guy on the right, collar up and blanket. hmmm...

Wow... I couldn't imagine being the guy laying behind the barrel in the German advance photo. Nowhere to run, nowhere to really take cover (the barrel won't do much vs a tank).


No doubt everyone of those Russian soldiers were killed moments after that picture was take, if indeed it is not staged.
