Haven't been here for a while due to ill health. Two months in the hospital to fix the ticker and some down time and I am back good as new.
Local lady tells me its a birthday card to an ancester signed by Stalin. I doubt it. Can anyone read the penciled words?? Back is blank and a tiny rip destroys the paper mark. Lots of German/Polish families here in Southern Illinois.

Oh goodness... are you sure someone's child wasn't allowed to go at the photo with a blue crayon?

Seems it's not Russian - I can't recognise these letters.
But the date is understandable, so I wouldn't say it was written by smb's child. Maybe it's Georgian language?

I am sure it is a language. The Soviet Union was not all made up of Russians after all.

    Cheers, Ade.

Right, Adrian...I am thinking it was gibberish.....Former USSR must have dozens of dialects....
