The month in the date is a Roman numeral? 18/IX/44, Strange way to do it. A very nice item you have there

Very nice document. Did the Soviets have an award system similar to the German wound badge series?

I've seen and know about Red Stars being awarded for wounds, but nothing so formalized and regimented, i.e. Black, Silver, & Gold, depending on the number and severity of wounds.

Pretty sure they wore either a yellow or red cloth stripe over their right breast to signify the amount of times wounded, and the severity. Yellow for minor, red for severe wound.
