fabe after doing a little research i can find soviet examples of this infantry shovel classed the mpl50 identical to your hungarian issued even down to the carrier , hope this will help in some way ,please keep us posted on your latest hungarian pickups ,thanks james

- M10 (1910) Hungarian (Austro-Hungarian) entr. tool. this was used in WW1 and WW2 a well...:
- M50 (1950) Hungarian entr. tool (same as the one 3 posts above):
- mpl50(?) Soviet WW2 (dated 1944) entr. tool:
all 3 side-by-side:
as you can see - there are slight differences...
but I think, you're right about the carriers for sure.

Rare Hungarian M50 helmet from the 1950s, with a small letter "R" stamped on the side, right into the metal: "R" as "Rendvédelmi" ("law enforcement" - Defence Service of Law Enforcement Agency) I've never seen a M50 with this marking, so I'm looking forward to this one. Again, only seller's pics:

The Hungarian field telephone arrived - another one just like this will come next week from the same seller...It's older than I hoped. No rust, like new - complete with leather carrying strap.

Hungarian M70 helmet (my second one) - with non-reflective "matt" paint-job...like new condition.
and an M87 ("Rába-terepmintás") camo M70 helmet cover, also in good condition. This camo pattern was used by para-troopers and border-guards only, from 1987 'till the mid-90s I'd say.

fabe ,the field phone is real nice ,with clear early postwar dates ,the m70 is also nice ,you can see the soviet occupying forces influence in the design ,as a helmet collector ,i really should buy one for the shelf along with an m50 ,i especially would like one with the camo cover you show ,it looks great ,as you say unissued the liner looks factory fresh ,these are a nice improvement over the m50 i believe the chinstrap hook and loop fastener fittings are all in brass ,keep up this superb thread fabe
THX James, yeah the M70 liner is cowhide leather and brass metal parts - and in my view, the best Soviet Ssh40 clone helmet outthere. In fact, the current Hungarian Army is still using it...

More updates (I have lots of stuff and less time)
M47 or M1947 ("Tildy") Hungarian helmet. WW2 (M35) shell repainted dark-green post-war by the Tildy (the minister's name) Government and were used until 1949-1950 - then came the M50 Soviet style helmet.
All original paint, size 64 & made by "MÁVAG" factory in the 1930s-40s (see marking)
There is a very small dent at the top of the helmet, but at least it was used at one time (could be war damage).
The liner is M47 artificial leather all in good condition. Chin-strap is also M47 cowhide leather.
