    Very nice. I have an example similar (also in much worse condition) but with a slightly different shaped handle and crossguard.

    Was always told it was for the GIL (which is stamped in the blade).....


    Anyway, welcome and a nice example

    The GIL dagger is clearly inspired by this of the ARDITI.
    The GIL was born during the Fascist era and was given to young people.
    GIL means Italian Youth Littorio.

    Yes...my reply was really poorly worded. Was aware of what the GIL was but as you note...the design carried over. Even the leather scabbard is a near perfect match.

    Personally, while not a fan of the scabbard design, I really like the feel of the knife in hand. Well balanced
