    It does look pretty old. The sheath makes me think
    40's or 50's.

    Most manuals about close combat with knives warn
    not to throw them because if you miss, you are
    then unarmed.........

    I had an ex girlfriend who was excellent at throwing knives.....And plates, plant pots, books, a rolling pin, my dinner etc., etc.
