Is this appropriate for this forum section?

These belonged to my Grandfather, Major General T.B.L Churchill.

    Ceremonial Swords

The straight sword was presented to him at Sandhurst RMC in 1927 as the prize for Military History. I don't know much about the curved sword. Any insight and tips for storage and cleaning appreciated.

The curved sword is called a "Mameluke" and, I believe, is typically earned/worn by U.S. Marines.

Thank you Ralph, a bit of google research reveals these are also used by British Army officers/generals. Much easier when you know what they are called!

The Mameluke sword with cypher for Queen Elizabeth II must be post mid 1950's at the earliest.

    Very Nice swords!
    Love the Mameluke!!!
I noticed they are both made by Wilkinson.
    Is either of these numbered?

I know from Sword Forum International site , Robert Wilkinson-Latham talked and also researched numbered swords and he had there history as far as the company records, etching pattern numbers and to whom they were presented and when.
I know you mentioned your Grandfather was the recipient of these, but the how and when answers would be a great part of the swords history.

I'm not sure if this was just for a certain time frame though.

    You are quite welcome Tom,
I'm glad to hear they are numbered.
Since I gave you the clue, can I see the number's?

I do love a good research!!!!!

I hope you don't mind?????, But I sent a PM to Robert Wilkinson-Latham on SFI to see if he can/will find some information about your Wilkinson's.
I did mention who they belonged to and also your relation to the recipient of these swords . I thought if he heard the personal side of the story, he would be more receptive than Some guy wanting to know about some swords he found.

I really hope that you are OK with me doing this for you????

I'll let you know what I hear.
