    Default FS on ebay

Looking for info here. Not really interested, but the seller is an acquaintance and I'm thinking he may been taken with the "story" rather than the knife. I'm NO expert on FS knives. However this one just looks all wrong to me.
WW II Sheffield England Fairbairn-Sykes Type Stiletto - eBay (item 170430888653 end time Jan-17-10 19:37:51 PST)

    Thanks for any input.

Hi Willi, it is trying to be all things to all men here: a very dubious marking on the scabbard and a Vietnam era unit mentioned on the scratched inscription on the blade.

    The scabbard is non standard.

Not worth the asking price, sorry. The knife itself is original.

    Cheers, Ade.

Not the style of Fairbairn I would normally expect to see associated with the Rangers.

The type normally associated has a cast handle / crossguard all in one. (See attached web page - "Alloy hilted commando knife).

    Commando knives with different hilts

    Cheers

    Thanks men,

It just didn't add up for me either. The 'magic marker' inscription on the scabbard didn't help any. LOL

I'll let him know, but I doubt he'll change the description. LOL

As with ALL things ebay, CAVEAT EMPTOR.

    Salud!
