ID Bayonet

Article about: Can someone ID this Bayonet for me the blade is just under 23 inches long and unfortunately badly rust pitted. The only mark I can find isn't very clear but is shown on one of the photos.

    Looks like a British Model 1856 or 1858 sword bayonet.

    If it lacks military inspection stamps then it could be for purchase by the Volunteer movement.
