Default KA-BAR is it a military issued knife?

    Hi guys,

I was wondering if I could get some opinions on this little KA-BAR? Im not familiar with the pattern and thought may be it could have been a military issue. The knife measures 8" over all. You will notice that the KA-BAR logo is intentionally ground off. I really have know idea why some one would go out of there way to do this however they did do a good job of not grinding into the guard. Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

This type of knife is known as a 'Mark 1' - Used by the US Navy in WWII.
It may be post-war if it does not have 'U.S.N. MARK 1' stamped
on the other side of the ricasso.

Typically, when a makers name has been ground off or obliterated,
it means the knife is 'sub-standard', and it was then sold off
    as surplus to the public......
    Regards,

    Steve.

Thanks Steve! The other side is unmarked so its probably like you said nothing more then sub-standard.
