KA-BAR is it a military issued knife?

This type of knife is known as a 'Mark 1' - Used by the US Navy in WWII.
It may be post-war if it does not have 'U.S.N. MARK 1' stamped
on the other side of the ricasso.
Typically, when a makers name has been ground off or obliterated,
it means the knife is 'sub-standard', and it was then sold off
as surplus to the public......
