    Default Long bayonet

I have acquired this bayonet and I know nothing about it, it has a crown on it and a WD which I'm guessing is the maker mark and two numbers that say 78 and 41 and a S. A mark that you can see in the pictures has a crown and than beneath it has a F27 mark. It's very long and is like a sword bayonet. Any ideas? Click image for larger version.

Looks similar to a British 1856 infantry sword bayonet to me

Alex is spot on. It is a British 1856 Sword Bayonet. A shame it's missing it's scabbard, as they are actually tougher to find than the bayonet itself! Still a nice find and a heck of a nice hunk of steel-enough to give you the chills just looking at it and imagining where it's been and what it's seen!

It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.
