need help with this fighting knife

One of my uncles brought this home from ww2. there are no markings of any kind on it. Don't know if it was one of the marines or the one who fought in Italy.

This dagger looks to be what is known as a 'theater made' knife,
except that it is very well constructed, so it probably falls
under the category of 'private purchase'.

It is not an issue piece, but very nice..............!

I can only wonder if the knife was carried on Tarawa, Into Naples,or Chosin and if it was ever used for its intended purpose.
