    Greetings all,

Recently found this nice M1905 to display with my USMC gear. It's unmarked in regards to a manufacturer. In excellent condition, I imagine it was never issued.

Interestingly many collectors call this a M1942 but to my knowledge the designation 'M1942' was never officially adopted by the US Army and instead all sixteen inch blade bayonets were referred to as a M1905.

    The best regards,

Nice! I've always known these 16 inchers to be called the 1905. I have one with brown grips made by AF&H and a cut down version made by PAL. They are nice bayonets!

    Chris,

Im certainly no expert but I have doubts as to the authenticity of this one. There should be a maker's mark, the stamping doesn't look right and neither does the blade finish.

    Greetings Chris,

I concur with Alex's suspicions. The Bayonet is a reproduction, however the scabbard appears to be original. These are currently being offered with several manufactures' names and like yours, without any manufacturer's markings as well.

    Many thanks gents.
I admit my knowledge on these bayonets is lacking. It is so well made, I was certainly fooled by it.
After some research it looks that only 6 manufacturers made these and they were all marked as such.
I know the seller well and I am sure it was a honest mistake. I'll take it back!
Many thanks again for the pointers.
    Regards
