No.4 Rifle spike bayonet

    Default No.4 Rifle spike bayonet

    I would like to share a few pictures of one of my Mk II spike bayonet this particular bayonet came as is with the Mk III scabbard and a Canadian P-37 pattern No.4 Mk I bayonet frog that is C-Broad arrow marked and dated to 1945 as best I can tell the last numeral is very hard to make out thanks for looking.

    Common, but still nice and affordable. These are sometimes
    the first piece in a budding collection.........

    You are correct Steve the spike bayonets and most of the scabbards and frogs are still quite easy to come by .
    There is one variation of the frog for the Mk II spike bayonet I am having a hard time finding though and that is a US M-5 bayonet scabbard and frog.

    That's odd - You should be able to find an M8A1 scabbard just about
    anywhere. Tried Ebay ? Some there I'd bet.........

    Thanks Steve I will have to keep my eyes open I just looked again tonight on ebay and there is not one to be found there.
    Here is an image of the frog I am looking for it is on the scabbard on the far right.

    I've never seen one like this. Lol - I thought you meant
    a scabbard for the US M5 bayonet ! ?

    Correct British designation would be 'MK V'.........

    I as well have never seen one like it before either Steve and I am having a hard time finding info on them I am curious as to there origin I wonder if they were manufactured as part of the lend lease act .

    Hi Kevin no unfortunately I do not I have been going through boxes of P-37 webbing and gear in my collection and researching different items and this is the one frog and scabbard I am missing and I can only find reference to it on two different web sites and it is very vague.
