Is this an original US bayonet?

Article about: My only problrem is that the grips seem to stick out a LOT at the pommel .Also the pins that hold the cross guard on are not flush with the cross guard. HMMMMMM BUT the bursting Bomb on the

    Hello all,

    Out of my comfort zone here - Is everything ok with this bayonet for sale? I know there are repro's of these.

    Unfortunately the pics are too small to be seen, but from the
    link it does look like a good one. Someone has engraved
    their Social Security number in the grip area, if this
    does not bother you.

    It could be that the blade has been coated or painted,
    but the pics are very dark.........

    Tuff call from these pics but I can add that the soldiers engraving is not a WW2 service no. I believe SSN (Social Security Number) came about in 1969, here a real and fake

    Looks good going by the grip material wear but still a tuff call

    Bingo on the SS number versus service number.

    looks to me like it maybe a late war issue,perhaps even just after the war
