Does anyone know what the fair market value of this knife would be?
I still have not been able to contact or get a return answer from the many email addresses or phone messages that I have tried for the family members.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stewart

These are very rare WW2 knives.
There were probably less than 3000 Servicing Commandos.

The author Ron Flook says in his book ‘The F/S Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives’ that RAF SCU Officers & NCO’s were issued a regular F/S knife, but other ranks received one of these.
And; “The contract records from the MoS would appear to indicate that some 2125 RAF Servicing Commando knives were purchased.” That is not many!

I believe Wade and Butcher also produced this knife commercially but such private purchase knives will not have the government issue broad arrow and are not attributable to the RAF SCU.

I think current values for a good RAF SCU knife are in the £600 area.

A good book on the RAF SCU is ‘Spectacles, Testicles, Fags and Matches’: The Untold Story of RAF Servicing Commandos in World War Two. Paperback. 2004 by Tom Atkinson.

Dabac, thank you for your post. Great info.
I had almost forgotten about the knife. I should probably put it in the safe.

    Have a great holiday season

Vosper, thank you for the info.!
The more I learn about it the more I'm impressed. It sure was a lucky find!
It's been sitting on my loading bench collecting dust for years. I had a few scammers after it, gave me the run-around, so I gave up trying to sell it. I should look into a legit auction site for it.

    I do enjoy it's history,

    Thanks,
    Stewart
