    This is my 1917 US L.F.& C. trench knife. This knife was made to do only one thing. I dont even know why they call it a knife. Some US troops carried these in WWII most given to them by there fathers who carried them in WWI or so the stories go

    Hi Gary, indeed, a very effective killing weapon. A spike is much better than a blade. It will leave a pucture wound which is harder to close and penetrate through heavy clothing easier. Gory stuff.

    I used to own one almost identical to yours.

    That is one of the things I like about these. They were not meant
    to open ration tins or cut tent pegs. These were made with only
    one thing in mind.

    Dave Yes they are getting hard to find. Greg I agree no tent pegs made with this knife.Great for making the holes to put the pegs in. Gary

    Expect a very painfull,if not deadly wound depending on location,excellent condition..thanks for sharing

    The original specifications issued by the government specifically mentioned that the knife should be capable of penetrating German overcoats.

    Eagle that is a good specification for a knife. I hope they didnt waste alot of time on coming up with that spec. Gary
