Default US GI Theater Made Knife

Have this US GI theater made trench knife.

On the blade it is etched "Berlin by Xmas".

The pommel and cross guard are made from brass and the handle from clear plastic and rubber.

There are no markings on the blade however there are some unreadable marks on both sides of the tang.

The blade is around 8 1/2 inches, and could have been cut down and re-blued but the fuller, which looks un-altered, is ~ 6 inches)

Can anyone identify what type of blade this is? Does not look like any K98 as the fuller runs right down the middle.

Interesting piece. Who ever made it took a lot of time and effort. The plastic and rubber parts comprising the grip are so smooth that in the hand if is hard to feel the separate pieces.

    Regards,

    Michael

    John,

Looked at some picks of the Patton saber. Don't think this is one of them. The Fuller on this knife appears to be un-altered (at ~6 inchs) vs. the saber where the fuller runs the whole length of the blade.

I think this had to be from some bayonet or knife.
